Unanimous Jury Decision Awards $75,000,000 in Landmark Case
Mike Morse Law Firm is honored to announce a unanimous, $75 million trial verdict awarded on a wrongful death case. The verdict marks the largest single-person wrongful death case in Wayne County and the state of Michigan.
In 2019, 21-year-old Denis Preka tragically passed away after unknowingly ingesting MDMA (Molly) provided to him by the defendant, who claimed it was Adderall which would help with studying.
While his condition visibly deteriorated, the defendant and others in the proximity laughed and uploaded videos of him to Snapchat. As such, the lawsuit sought, and was awarded, damages for conscious pain and suffering, as well as loss of society and companionship.
“This is as troubling of a case as I’ve worked on,” said Mike, who personally tried the case. “Denis’s life was tragically cut short, and this verdict sends a powerful message about the importance of truth and accountability.”
There is no “winning” in a wrongful death case — no verdict of any amount can bring a loved one back.
But, by getting to know and love the Prekas family, we hope to raise awareness and provide justice to anyone who has been victimized by drug misrepresentation.
