12 Things to Do in Metro Detroit This Halloween Weekend

Halloween weekend can be much more than just your average neighborhood costume party and passing out candy. There are so many things to do around Metro Detroit that can add spook-tacular fun to whatever you’ve got brewing this weekend – and all for little to no cost extra cost. Whether you’re looking for a night away from the kids, a night on a haunted trail, or just another excuse to put your dog in a costume – here are 12 things to do this weekend to put the treat in trick-or-treat.

Grand Raven Drive In Movie Series

When: Friday, October 29 at 7pm

Where: Downtown Farmington Hills

Cost: FREE

Casper (1995) will be playing on the big screen tonight! Admission is free, however, it is suggested that you bring a children’s winter clothing item to donate. The movie starts at 7:30pm, and preshow entertainment begins at 7pm. Pre-registration is required in order to reserve your vehicle spot. Click here to pre-register. Lawn chair and blanket spots will also be available on a first come first serve basis.

Kids Night Out Halloween

When: Friday, October 29 from 5:30pm – 9pm

Where: Franklin Athletic Club (29350 Northwestern Hwy, Southfield, MI 48034, (248-352–8000 ext 314)

Cost: $40 for Franklin Athletic Club members; $50 for non-members

Are you a parent? Do you need a night off to celebrate Halloween for yourself? Drop your kids off at the Franklin Athletic Club for a Halloween themed night of fun consisting of a costume contest, swimming, pizza, games, crafts and more! Kids ages 3-12 are welcome. Boo!kley: Downtown Berkley Trick or Treating

When: October 30 from noon – 6pm

Where: Downtown Berkley

Cost: FREE

From noon to 3pm, enjoy a trick-or-treat stroll through Berkley to get ahead of the game and collect candy from participating businesses downtown. From 2pm to 6pm, join in on the Monster Mash for some fun and games fit for the entire family.

Glenlore Trails The Haunted Forest

When: October 29 and October 30 from 7pm – 11pm

Where: Multi Lakes Conservation Association (3860 Newton Road, Commerce Charter Township, MI 48382)

Cost: $15 – $25

Come explore the Haunted Forest of Glenlore Trails. This family-friendly, socially-distanced outdoor experience is appropriate for all ages. The entire event takes around an hour and consists of a mile of trails. Tickets are sold in 30 minute increments starting at 7pm with the last time offered at 11pm. Tickets can be purchased here.

Cider in The City

When: Saturday, October 30 from 1pm – 5pm

Where: Beacon Park (1901 Grand River Ave, Detroit, MI 48226)

Cost: FREE

Head downtown for cider and donuts, seasonal crafts, horse-drawn carriage rides, live music, a pumpkin patch, lawn games, lots of food trucks and more! Email info@downtowndetroit.org for more information.

Trunk Or Treat

When: Saturday, October 30 from 1pm – 4pm

Where: Scout Park (900 E Otis Ave, Hazel Park, MI 48030)

Trick or treat from car to car to get ahead of the game and start collecting your candy! There will also be a costume contest, hayrides, hot chocolate, music, and so much more. For more information call 248-765-4361. 

Streets of Treats & Halloween Parade

When: Saturday, October 30 from 10am – 11:30am

Where: Downtown Northville

Cost: FREE

Bring your kids on down to this family friendly celebration where they will get to walk in a Halloween parade and trick or treat at businesses along the way! For more information contact the Northville Chamber of Commerce at 248-349-7640.

Howl-O-Ween

When: Saturday, October 30 from noon – 3pm

Where: Daisy Knight Dog Park (3410 Livernois, Troy, MI 48083, 248-524-3484)

Cost per dog: $3 dog park members; $6 Troy residents; $9 non-residents. Register here: http://bit.ly/2P2C2aH

Get your dog dressed up in his best costume and get them ready for the ultimate Howl-o-ween fun full of dog friendly trick or treat tables and a photo booth. There are four time slots for dogs of different sizes. Pre-registration for the event is required and there is limited capacity at the event. For cost info, and to register visit rec.troymi.gov

Halloween Hustle Run and Walk

When: Sat, October 30 from 7pm – 11 pm

Where: 14900 Metro Parkway, Sterling Heights, MI

Cost: $25 – $45

Bring the whole family along for a Halloween-themed run/walk for a good cause. The money raised will be donated to Wigs4Kids. After the run, there will be a family-friendly drive-in movie that costs $25 per car. You can register for the event here.

Haunted Car Wash

When: October 28 – 30 from 7pm – 10pm

Where: Motor City Express Car Wash (49231 Alpha Drive, Wixom, MI 48393)

Cost: $5 for club members; $20 for non-members

Looking for a quick, spooky experience that benefits a good cause? Head on over to the Haunted Car Wash. $5 from every $20 spooky wash goes to St Jude’s Children Hospital. For more information, call 248-560-0122.

Birmingham Farmers Market End of Season Celebration

When: Sunday, October 31, 2021 from 9am – 2pm

Where: Birmingham Farmers Market Lot #6 (666 North Old Woodward Avenue, Birmingham, Michigan 48009)

Cost: FREE

As the Birmingham Farmers Market wraps up its season, everyone is invited to finish off the year with a Halloween-themed celebration! Wear your costume and enjoy trick-or-treating, treats from local vendors, and more!

Book & Boo

When: Sunday, October 31, 2021 from 1p-4:30p (5 sessions to choose from)

Where: Southfield Halloween: Bedford Woods Park (Lathrup Dr, N of 12 Mile Rd E of Southfield Rd)

Cost per person: $5 for Southfield residents; $10 for non-residents

Halloween stories don’t always have to be scary! Enjoy a Trick or Treat Story Trail with storybook characters handing out treats along the way. At the end of the trail, all children will receive a pumpkin to take home as well! Kids ages 2 through 10 are welcome, and one adult must be present per group. Each group must social distance at least 6 feet from one another and each person must pay for a ticket.  For more information, click here.
