January 2023 Auto Recalls

Safety on the roads should be a top priority for everyone, and while driving safely is an important factor, the safety of your vehicle matters just as much. While today’s vehicles are equipped with top of the line safety features, vehicle recalls can happen every day. Make sure you stay up to date with auto recalls to ensure that your vehicle is ready to roll on the roads.

According to data provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the following recalls were issued in January. If you find your vehicle on this list, contact your dealership for further information about the steps to take relating to your specific recall defect.

2001-2011 Mercedes-Benz C-Class, CLK, E-Class, and CLS vehicles

Year: 2023
Units Recalled: 123,696
Defect:  The glass sunroof panel may not be properly secured and may detach.

2023 BMW X5 sDrive40i, X5 M50i and X5 xDrive 45e vehicles

Year: 2023
Units Recalled: 4
Defect: One of the four bolts that connects the backrest to the driver’s seat frame may not have been correctly installed.

2023 Volkswagen ID4 rear-wheel drive vehicles

Year: 2023
Units Recalled: 1,042
Defect: The 12-Volt battery charging cable may contact the steering column shaft and cause the cable insulation to wear, possibly resulting in a short circuit.

Certain Mercedes-Benz ML and GLE vehicles

Year: 2023
Units Recalled: 323,963
Defect: Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC. (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2012-2014 ML550, 2012-2015 ML350, AMG ML63, 2015 ML250, ML400, 2016 GLE450, GLE300, 2016-2018 GLE350, GLE550, 2016-2019 GLE400, 2017-2019 AMG GLE43, and 2016-2020 AMG GLE63 vehicles. Water might accumulate in the spare tire wheel well and damage the fuel pump control unit, which could cause an engine stall while driving.

2020-2023 Ford Lincoln Aviator and 2020-2022 Lincoln Corsair vehicles

Year: 2023
Units Recalled: 101,001
Defect: hen the driver’s seat belt is not buckled and the vehicle is started, the seat belt warning system may activate the audible warning chime for an insufficient amount of time of less than 4 seconds. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, “Occupant Crash Protection.”

2022 Chrysler Ram Promaster Chassis Cab vehicles

Year: 2023
Units Recalled: 38
Defect: The analog rearview camera is the incorrect type of camera and cannot be installed. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, “Rear Visibility.”

2023 Tesla Model Y vehicles

Year: 2022
Units Recalled: 9
Defect: The left-hand front suspension lateral link fasteners may not have been properly attached to the sub-frame.

Certain 2022-2023 BMW iX, i4 and i7 vehicles

Year: 2023
Units Recalled: 14,086
Defect: BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2022-2023 iX xDrive40, iX xDrive50, iX M60, i4 eDrive35, i4 eDrive40, i4 M50, and 2023 i7 xDrive60 vehicles. The high voltage battery electronic control unit (ECU) software may cause an interruption of electrical power.

2019-2022 Volvo V60CC, XC60, and XC90 vehicles

Year: 2023
Units Recalled: 74
Defect: During steering gear assembly, double screws may have been assembled on top of each other, which can cause a screw to fall into the gearbox housing.

2023 Volvo S60, V60, V60CC, V90CC, XC60, XC90, XC40, and C40 vehicles

Year: 2023
Units Recalled: 27,475
Defect: A diagnostic error in the Brake Control Module 2 (BCM2) may cause a loss of Antilock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and traction control.

2017-2023 Chrysler Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid Electric vehicles

Year: 2023
Units Recalled: 67,118
Defect: An internal transmission wiring connector may short circuit, resulting in an unexpected engine shutdown.

2022 Subaru WRX vehicles

Year: 2023
Units Recalled: 4,615
Defect: The owner’s manual may contain incorrect instructions for adjusting the sensitivity of the High Beam Assist function. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.”

2023 Ford Bronco Sport vehicles

Year: 2023
Units Recalled: 801
Defect: Valves inside the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) module may have been damaged during manufacturing, causing an internal ABS module leak.

2020-2023 Ford Explorer, Lincoln Aviator, and 2020-2022 Lincoln Corsair vehicles

Year: 2023
Units Recalled: 382,759
Defect: The video output may fail, preventing the rearview camera image from displaying.

2022 Hyundai Santa Fe Plug-In Hybrid vehicles

Year: 2023
Units Recalled: 326
Defect: The fuel tank may have been improperly molded, which can result in a fuel leak.

2022-2023 BMW i4 eDrive40 and iX xDrive50 electric vehicles

Year: 2023
Units Recalled: 3,431
Defect: During vehicle start-up, the artificial sound generator control unit may experience a fault and fail to generate the external pedestrian warning sound. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 141, “Minimum Sound Requirements for Hybrid and Electric Vehicles.”

2022 Sorento Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) vehicles

Year: 2023
Units Recalled: 34
Defect: The fuel tank may have been improperly molded, which can result in a fuel leak.
