Safety on the roads should be a top priority for everyone, and while driving safely is an important factor, the safety of your vehicle matters just as much. While today’s vehicles are equipped with top of the line safety features, vehicle recalls can happen every day. Make sure you stay up to date with auto recalls to ensure that your vehicle is ready to roll on the roads.
According to data provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the following recalls were issued in September. If you find your vehicle on this list, contact your dealership for further information about the steps to take relating to your specific recall defect. Here are the August 2022 Auto Recalls as well.
2015-2017 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator vehicles
Year: 2022
Units Recalled: 198,482
Defect: The front blower motor located behind the glove box may fail and create an interior fire risk.
2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E vehicles
Year: 2022
Units Recalled: 1,175
Defect: A broken half shaft can cause a loss of drive power, or a rollaway could occur while parked if the electronic parking brake is not engaged. Either of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.
2022 Audi S3, A3, and RS3 vehicles
Year:2022
Units Recalled: 4,117
Defect: An incorrectly folded air bag can tear, prohibiting it from deploying properly during a crash, increasing the risk of an injury.
2023 Kia Sportage vehicles
Year: 2022
Units Recalled: 19,701
Defect: The alternator battery positive terminal nut may loosen, which can result in an engine stall or an electrical surge.
2022 Volkswagen Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport vehicles
Year: 2022
Units Recalled: 3,184
Defect: The trailer hitch bolts may have been insufficiently tightened which could lead to separation of the trailer hitch and trailer, increasing the risk of a crash.
2022 Lexus NX250, NX350, and Toyota Tundra vehicles
Year: 2022
Units Recalled: 83,725
Defect: The Skid Control ECU within the Brake Actuator Assembly may falsely detect an overcurrent condition of the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) Actuator and enter a failsafe mode which prevents the EPB from being engaged.
2021-2022 Nissan Rogue vehicles
Year: 2022
Units Recalled: 8,391
Defect: The rear seat belts for the left-hand and right-hand rear seats may not retract properly and may be difficult to operate, preventing their usage, which can increase the risk of injury in a crash.
2020-2023 Nissan Titan and Frontier vehicles
Year: 2022
Units Recalled: 197,230
Defect: The transmission parking pawl may not engage when the vehicle is shifted into park, which can result in a vehicle rollaway.
2019-2022 BMW X7 xDrive40i, X7 Drive50i, X7 M50i vehicles with third-row seats
Year: 2022
Units Recalled: 246
Defect: One or more of the compression springs that lock the backrest may not have been installed properly, and could dislodge or detach.
2021-2022 Audi Q3 vehicles
Year: 2022
Units Recalled: 13,004
Defect: A damaged vent pipe may allow fuel to spill out of the filler neck when the fuel cap is opened, increasing the risk of an injury.
2021 Mercedes-Benz GLB250 vehicles
Year: 2022
Units Recalled: 4
Defect: The Electronic Stability Program (ESP) unit may be damaged, which can result in disabled anti-lock brakes (ABS), disabled electronic stability control (ESC), and an electrical short circuit.
2020-2022 Mercedes-Benz GLE350, GLE450, GLS450, AMG GLE53, GLE580, GLS580, GLE400e, AMG GLS63, AMG GLE63 S, and Maybach GLS600 vehicles
Year: 2022
Units Recalled: 161,000
Defect: Detached trim bars may cause a road hazard and increase the risk of a crash or injury.
2022 Ford F-150 Raptor Series
Year: 2022
Units Recalled: 1,519
Defect: The lug nuts on the wheels may have been incorrectly tightened which can result in wheel separation from the vehicle and lead to a crash.
2022 Volkswagen TAOS vehicles equipped with all-wheel drive
Year: 2022
Units Recalled: 2
Defect: The engine control unit (ECU) software may cause a stall when coming to a stop.
2022 BMW 745e hybrid electric vehicles
Year: 2022
Units Recalled: 1
Defect: The high voltage battery may have been produced with a battery cell electrode that was improperly sized during the laser cutting process, which may result in an electrical short-circuit.
2022 Nikola Tre BEV vehicles
Year: 2022
Units Recalled: 93
Defect: The seat belt shoulder anchorage assembly may have been improperly installed.
2021 Nissan Versa and Kicks vehicles
Year: 2022
Units Recalled: 20,040
Defect: An intermittent electrical connection in the electric power steering (EPS) torque sensor can disable the power steering assist.
2018-2021 Navistar International HV, 2018-2020 International HX, 2018-2019 International LT and International RH vehicles
Year: 2022
Units Recalled: 6,883
Defect: The connecting rod wrist pin may crack, resulting in connecting rod failure.
2016-2022 Kia Sorento, 2021-2022 Sorento Hybrid (HEV), 2022-2023 Sorento Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV), and 2017-2022 Sportage vehicles
Year: 2022
Units Recalled: 70,887
Defect: Vehicles equipped with a tow hitch harness installed as original equipment, or purchased as an accessory through a Kia dealership may be impacted by debris and moisture accumulation on the tow hitch harness module printed circuit board (PCB) which may cause an electrical short, which can result in a fire.
2017-2022 Tesla Model 3, 2020-2021 Model Y, and 2021-2022 Model S and Model X vehicles
Year: 2022
Units Recalled: 1,096,762
Defect: The window automatic reversal system may not react correctly after detecting an obstruction. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 118, “Power-Operated Window Systems.”
2022 Ford Explorer and Ranger vehicles equipped with 2.3L engines
Year: 2022
Units Recalled: 69
Defect: The fuel line may be loose due to improper tightening of the fuel line connection and may result in a fuel leak increasing the risk of fire.
2022 Ford F-150 vehicles
Year: 2022
Units Recalled: 74
Defect: The right-side instrument panel cover may have been manufactured incorrectly, which can cause the air bag to not deploy as intended. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, “Occupant Crash Protection.”
2017-2019 Subaru Impreza vehicles
Year: 2022
Units Recalled: 188,397
Defect: The left and right side reflex reflector and left side low beam reflector may inadequately reflect light. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.”
2022 Audi Q3 vehicles
Year: 2022
Units Recalled: 4
Defect: A window manufacturing error may allow the rear window to crack or break.
2022-2023 Volkswagen Golf R A8 and Golf GTI vehicles
Year: 2022
Units Recalled: 8,038
Defect: The radiator may not have been attached correctly to the intercooler, which can result in a damaged coolant hose.
2022-2023 Navistar International HX vehicles
Year: 2022
Units Recalled: 451
Defect: The tie rod clamps may have been improperly heat-treated, causing them to fail and allowing the tie rods to separate.
2022 Subaru Impreza and Outback vehicles
Year: 2022
Units Recalled: 42
Defect: The incorrect paint clearcoat may have been applied, which can cause the windshield to be insufficiently bonded to the vehicle. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 212, “Windshield Mounting.”
