Matthew R. Bates is a recent addition to the State Bar of Michigan and The Mike Morse Law Firm family. In 2005, Matt graduated cum laude from Western Michigan University with a B.A. in public law and philosophy. Following graduation, Matt enrolled at Wayne State University Law School. While at Wayne State, he served as the Law School Representative on the University Student Council and the President of the Student Bar Association Board of Governors. In recognition of his leadership in these positions, Matt was awarded the Campus Life Leadership Award for Outstanding Graduate/Professional Student Leader. Additionally, Matt was also a member of the Student Trial Advocacy Program where he and his partner won the Donald Barris Mock Trial Competition. After graduating from Law School in 2008, Matt was elected Secretary to the Board of Directors for the Wayne State Law Alumni Association. Since joining the The Mike Morse Law Firm, Matt has worked in the areas of personal injury litigation and social security disability. In his free time, Matt enjoys reading, sports, and spending time with friends and family.
